Terminal

Teetering around, arms outstretched,
A floating delta, while parents
Sit adjacent, waiting for flight 127:

Columbus to Saint Louis
A father-in-law’s death interrupting
Promises of divorce.

Still, they can’t wait to fly.
Three voyagers embark, the metal giant
Lifts its snout and they forget
What brought them here.
